Ram 1500 EcoDiesel
RAM TRUCKS introduced the new ’19 Ram 1500 but forgot one thing: a diesel engine. Rest assured, the 3.0L V-6 EcoDiesel’s comeback is slated for 2019 in the redesigned pickup. Ram plans to sell the outgoing 1500 alongside the new one under the badge “Ram 1500 Classic.” Aside from the addition of the “Classic” badging, the ’19 1500 Classic is the same truck as 2018, although only two trims are available with the diesel engine: Laramie, and Big Horn/ Lone Star. The diesel is also available in an SLT trim, but that’s fleet-only for 2019.
Pricing has not been announced for 2019, but pricing for a 2018 Laramie with the EcoDiesel V-6 starts at $47,135.
The ’19 Ram 1500 is likely to hint at the styling direction of the brand’s forthcoming heavy-duty trucks as well. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V-6 engine returns as an option in 2019 but is only available in the “Classic” 1500, which is the earlier 1500 marketed to fleet and entry-level buyers.
