A REAL HEAD-TURNER
at the show ’n’ shine was this International Harvester Farmall tractor with a 5.9L 12-valve Cummins engine. The tractor had been sitting for 20 years with a seized engine when Jeff Gaskin decided he wanted to get it running again. Rebuilding the stock 263ci I-6 would have cost a good chunk of money and yielded a whopping 70 hp. So Jeff decided to go a different route and stuff a used 6BT from an ’89 Dodge Ram pickup under the hood. The conversion required no major modifications, just an engine-to-transmission adapter, a flywheel, motor mounts, some custom plumbing, a throttle cable, and a bit of trimming so the turbocharger would clear the side curtain. The old tractor now has nearly 400 hp that Jeff can’t wait to put to use around the farm.
