Dorch­ester County Pub­lic Schools El­e­men­tary reg­is­tra­tion April 18

CAM­BRIDGE — Dorch­ester County Pub­lic Schools will hold a reg­is­tra­tion event on Wed­nes­day, April 18, for par­ents to reg­is­ter their school-age chil­dren for Pre-K, Kinder­garten, or first grade.

Reg­is­tra­tion will be avail­able from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at each el­e­men­tary school. Par­ents and guardians should visit the school where their chil­dren would at­tend, based on res­i­dency.

The fol­low­ing in­for­ma­tion is re­quired to reg­is­ter: birth cer­tifi­cate, so­cial se­cu­rity card, im­mu­niza­tion records and lead test­ing re­sults, proof of res­i­dence (lease, mort­gage, elec­tric or wa­ter bill, etc.), parental con­tact in­for­ma­tion (ad­dress, phone num­bers, emer­gency con­tact), proof of cus­tody if not nat­u­ral par­ent.

In­come ver­i­fi­ca­tion will be re­quired for Pre-K reg­is­tra­tion, which can be ac­com­plished with any of the fol­low­ing: tax re­turn from pre­vi­ous year, most re­cent pay­check stubs from the par­ent or guardian’s last two pay pe­ri­ods, TCA case nu­ber, or other in­come ver­i­fi­ca­tion doc­u­ment ap­proved by the the prin­ci­pal/de­signee.

On or be­fore Sept. 1, 2018, a child must be 4 years old for Pre-K, 5 years old for Kinder­garten, or 6 years old for first grade. Kinder­garten at­ten­dance is com­pul­sory, though ex­emp­tions can be ob­tained from Stu­dent Ser­vices.
