MSP Toy Drive Thur Dec. 17
The 2018 Maryland State Police “Bears That Care MidShore” toy drive is under way. Application days will be 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 30 and 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Preston Firehouse, 3680 Choptank Road, Preston. Bring a photo ID and your child’s birth certificate and proof of guardianship. The deadline for donations is Dec. 17. State troopers are collecting toys (new and unwrapped), jackets and gloves for local children whose families are in need this Christmas. Donations also will be accepted 24 hours a day at the Easton Barracks, 7053 Ocean Gateway, after Nov. 16. In the 2017 holiday season, the toy drive helped more than 200 families and 600 children. Toys also were to the pediatric ward of the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, local churches and local shelters. Zion Church Christmas Bazaar
Zion Church, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, will host a Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, featuring a large variety of holiday shopping, including jewelry, gifts, decorations and specialty items by local crafters, plus the sweets and treats bake table. Café will be open all day with scrapple sandwiches early and lunch starts at 10:30 a.m. offering soups, sandwiches and chicken salad. Use the Glasgow Street entrances for easy access.
Church Creek VFC Auxiliary Bingo
The Church Creek VFC Auxiliary will host bingo Saturday, Nov. 10. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. There will be food and entertainment for the entire family.
American Legion Post 91 Dance Nov. 16 American Legion Post 91, 601 Radiance Drive, Cambridge, is having a dance from 8 to 11 p.m., featuring the Jones Boys. Cover charge is $5.

The Lakes and Straits VFC will host a gun raffle with the drawing at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, during the VFC’s Oyster Fritter Soup Day. Tickets are $5 and there are only 500 tickets. First place will receive a Stoeger 3500 Black; second place will receive am American Ruger 6.5 Creedmore; and third place will receive a Ruger 10/22.
