HURLOCK — Sixth-grade students at North Dorchester Middle School collected more than 750 nonperishable food items for their annual service learning project.

The students organized the event and enlisted the help of staff, students and families of the school to achieve their donation goals. To keep the food in their home community the students chose to donate the food to Unity Washington Methodist Church in Hurlock to help supply the church’s community outreach food distribution programs.

Church volunteer Amanda Lehmann picked up the food and was assisted by sixth grade students in loading the food for delivery to the church: Kylie Clark, Danaijah Frisby, Kelly Harding, Austin Hubbard, Alyssa James, Emma Lehmann and Victor Merritt.
