Woman, 50, killed in Tuesday crash

HURLOCK — A 50-year-old Seaford woman died early Tuesday morn­ing, Jan. 8, in a crash on state Route 392 near Hurlock, po­lice said.

Yevette Young was driv­ing a Nis­san Xterra west on Route 392 when her SUV was hit by a Freight­liner be­ing driven east on Route 392 by Solomon White, 35, of Dags­boro, Del., Mary­land State Po­lice said.

The crash was re­ported shortly af­ter 6 a.m. Jan. 8.

Po­lice said the pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­di­cates the Freight­liner crossed the dot­ted yel­low line and hit the driver’s side of the Xterra.

Young was pro­nounced dead at the scene. Vic­tor Ran­dolph, 27, of Seaford, Del., a pas­sen­ger in the Xterra, was taken to the Penin­sula Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter for treat­ment of his in­juries.

White was not in­jured. The Mary­land State Po­lice Crash Team re­sponded and will be con­duct­ing a de­tailed crash re­con­struc­tion. Upon com­ple­tion, the in­ves­ti­ga­tion will be for­warded to the Dorch­ester County State’s Attorney’s Of­fice for re­view re­gard­ing charges.

The Mary­land State Po­lice Com­mer­cial Ve­hi­cle En­force­ment Di­vi­sion, along with Dorch­ester County Emergency Med­i­cal Ser­vices per­son­nel re­sponded to as­sist with the scene. The Mary­land Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion State High­way Ad­min­is­tra­tion also re­sponded to as­sist with the road clo­sure.
