Woman, 50, killed in Tuesday crash
HURLOCK — A 50-year-old Seaford woman died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, in a crash on state Route 392 near Hurlock, police said.
Yevette Young was driving a Nissan Xterra west on Route 392 when her SUV was hit by a Freightliner being driven east on Route 392 by Solomon White, 35, of Dagsboro, Del., Maryland State Police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Jan. 8.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the Freightliner crossed the dotted yellow line and hit the driver’s side of the Xterra.
Young was pronounced dead at the scene. Victor Randolph, 27, of Seaford, Del., a passenger in the Xterra, was taken to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
White was not injured. The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded and will be conducting a detailed crash reconstruction. Upon completion, the investigation will be forwarded to the Dorchester County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding charges.
The Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, along with Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to assist with the scene. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration also responded to assist with the road closure.
