TAY­LORS IS­LAND — Matilda “Tillie” C. Degges, 86, of Tay­lors Is­land died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her res­i­dence.

Born Nov. 4, 1932, in Bal­ti­more, she was the daugh­ter of the late An­drew Uzarowski and Mary Anna Wo­jkowski Uzarowski.

She was a mem­ber of Our Lady of Good Coun­sel Catholic Church and Tay­lors Is­land Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany.

She is sur­vived by chil­dren, Harry “Wally” D. John­son and wife Debbi of West­min­ster, Ken­neth R. John­son and wife Wendy of New Hamp­shire, Charles S. “Sonny” Degges Jr. and his com­pan­ion Denise of Tay­lors Is­land, and Peggy Ward and hus­band Michael of Tay­lors is­land; eight grand­chil­dren, Scott John­son, Daniel John­son, Joshua John­son, Kait­lyn John­son, Ni­cholas Bound, Carl Ward, Jr., Hunter Degges and Dy­lan Degges; two great­grand­chil­dren, Brady John­son and Han­nah John­son; a sis­ter, Anna Burke of Pasadena.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Charles S. “Sonny” Degges Sr., on Feb. 18, 2014; and her sib­lings, Jenny Roe, John Uzarowski, Mary Rostkowski, Thomas Uzarowski, Gertrude Balewski and Phyl­lis Dehne.

Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Coun­sel Catholic Church in Sec­re­tary, where the fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the mass. Rev. Stephen Lonek and Rev. Michael Casari will con­cel­e­brate. In­ter­ment will fol­low in the church ceme­ter y.

Ar­range­ments are in the care of Zeller Fu­neral Home in East New Mar­ket.
