Christian hip hop artist Thisl, who hails from St. Louis, has been very vocal about police brutality across the country in light of the Michael Brown and Eric Garner decision to not indict the police officers allegedly involved in their fatalities. The music minister has taken to Fox News and other platforms including social media to voice his displeasure with the system. Others are following suit across the country. New York’s Conquest aka Jason Roberts released Radical Thinking 2819 and we were at his album release party and witnessed his awesome ministry. The album is definitely a project of the times and one that deserves a listen. This past Christmas holiday saw the likes of Lecrae hitting the stage at Barclays for the “Christmas In Brooklyn” concert. He continues to make strides for the genre, sharing the stage with the legendary Run DMC, LL Cool J and many others. Lastly, but certainly not less important, New York’s own Serious Voice is gearing up to drop new music from her debut album dubbed Shofar. I’ve been privy to hear several of the tracks and am excited for the release.
