The Ger­mans use the word “con­se­quent” to mean that the rider is able to give her aids clearly and con­sis­tently in all sit­u­a­tions and the horse (as a “con­se­quence” of those clear, con­sis­tent aids) un­der­stands pre­cisely how to re­act to them. To be con­se­quent, ev­ery­thing you do in the sad­dle has to be fo­cused, clear and con­sis­tent.
