Election reaction shows Trump’s ‘process’
How Donald Trump thinks: Whenever he gets news that reflects badly on him (like the election results) he apparently goes through a four-step process:
• Invent an alternate theory of what really happened, which invalidates what really happened (like “the election was rigged”). This theory need only be remotely possible, but not too silly. For instance, a theory like “All Democratic votes were cast by Martians in disguise” is no good, since even his base might not believe this. Evidence for his alternative theory ( like the “election was rigged”) is great if available, but definitely not necessary.
• Label the true ( bad) results as “Fake News.”
• Tweet his alternative theory to his Trump base.
• Fire any federal employee who disputes his alternative theory publicly
