Antioch man pleads no contest to pimping teen girl in Oakland, SF and Reno
OAKLAND >> A 21-year- old Antioch man has accepted a plea deal and three-year prison sentence to settle a criminal case in which he was accused of trafficking a teen girl, taking her to Oakland, San Francisco and Reno, Nevada, to engage in prostitution.
Roderick Parrish III pleaded no contest to a charge of pimping the 16-year-old. In exchange, Alameda County prosecutors dropped charges of pandering and human trafficking, court records show. He is eligible for a sentence reduction of up to 50% with good behavior and has credit for more than 200 days already served in jail while awaiting resolution in his case.
Parrish was charged in 2018, after the victim named him as her pimp. She told police he kept the earnings, which amounted to about $2,000 during a one-month period in starting in July of that year, authorities said. Additionally, authorities say they searched Parrish’s phone and found a 12- minute video of him engaging in sexual intercourse with the girl, whom authorities referred to as “Victim 1” and “V1” in court records.
“Parrish would instruct V1 to stand on the street and wait for someone to pick V1 up for a date. … Parrish would teach V1 to ask if the customers were law enforcement before getting into a car,” Oakland police Sgt. Michael Chung wrote in a probable cause statement filed in 2018. “Parrish would tell V1 if she comes across another pimp to just put her head down and walk away. Parrish also instructed V1 not to accept a date under $200.”
Parrish’s attorney declined to comment.
Court records say that Parrish remains in Santa
Rita Jail in Dublin and has a restitution hearing set for Dec. 10.
