Two shootings are under investigation
OAKLAND >> Two men were shot a few minutes apart Monday night in downtown and West Oakland, authorities said.
Both men were in stable condition and the shootings are not related, authorities said.
Around 7:25 p.m. Monday a 36-year-old man was shot in the area of Eighth Street and Broadway by a 35-yearold man he had gotten into an argument with, police said.
The gunman fled on foot but the victim was able to follow him to Ninth and Jefferson streets where police were contacted and the suspect was arrested.
Police have not yet said what the argument was about.
Shell casings were recovered at the shooting scene and officers blocked off Eighth Street between Broadway and Franklin Street and worked to collect
video from nearby surveillance cameras.
In a separate shooting at about the same time, a 46-year- old man was wounded by gunfire in the 700 block of Adeline Street.
Officers responded to the area for a report of ShotSpotter activity but did not find the victim who had gotten his own transportation to a hospital where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to his lower back.
Three parked vehicles were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported.
Officers recovered more
than a dozen shell casings in the area.
Police believe the shooter fled in a vehicle and no arrests have been made. A motive for the shooting has not been released yet.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in the Adeline Street shooting for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information may call police at 510-2383426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
