OAKLAND >> Two boys, ages 15 and 13, were arrested Monday in the armed carjacking of two women in the Cleveland Heights neighborhood, authorities said Tuesday.

The women, ages 48 and 52, were not injured, authorities said

Authorities said the carjacking happened about 11:42 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of Portland Avenue west of Park Boulevard.

Author ities said the women had just exited their Mercedes sedan when they were approached by the teens. The 15- yearold pointed a gun at the women and demanded the keys to the car, authorities said. The suspects then fled in the vehicle.

Police were able to track the Mercedes to the 1900 block of 82nd Avenue in East Oakland, where the suspects were arrested less than an hour later. The car and what turned out to be a BB gun used in the carjacking were recovered, authorities said.

This was the latest in a series of armed robberies and carjackings committed in Oakland by juveniles, some as young as 11, over the last few months.

Police have made arrests in some of the cases.

Oakland youths have also been arrested in other Bay Area cities for similar crimes.

In one of the more recent cases, two 12- yearold boys and a 14-year- old boy were arrested in the robbery and beating Dec. 21 of a woman at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. The woman was punched and stomped, and had her purse taken, Palo Alto police said. The suspects were arrested in a vehicle stolen out of Oakland Dec. 19. .
