Two people wounded in separate Oakland shootings
OAKLAND >> A shooting in East Oakland and another in West Oakland wounded two people Thursday night, authorities said.
The second of the two was a drive-by in the 2400 block of 78th Avenue in East Oakland around 11:20 p.m., police said. It wounded a 36-year-old man.
The man told officers he was walking to a liquor store when someone in a passing vehicle unloaded gunfire, police said.
At least one bullet hit the man in the arm, police said. He got his own transportation to a hospital, where police said he was in stable condition.
Police said the liquor store also was hit by gunfire. No one else was injured.
The earlier shooting happened in a West Oakland neighborhood, police said.
Around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 700 block of 31st Street just west of San Pablo Avenue in the city’s Hoover-Foster neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old woman outside her home suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. Two suspects also robbed the woman of a purse or backpack, police said.
Officers provided her care until firefighters and paramedics responded and took her to an area hospital. She preliminarily was listed in stable condition Thursday night.
Other officers cordoned off the area to recover evidence, including surveillance video. Investigators did not immediately share any suspect or vehicle description.
