Lightning raise Cup banner for their fans

Playing in front of their home fans for the first time this season, the Tampa Bay Lightning raised their 2020 Stanley Cup banner and then beat the Nashville Predators 6-3 on Saturday night.

Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist for the Lightning. Alex Killorn, Brayden Point, Blake Coleman and Mathieu Joseph also scored, and Erik Cernak finished with two assists.

Andrei Vasilevski­y stopped 28 shots to earn his NHL-leading 17th win.

A maximum crowd of 3,800 was in attendance.

Chris Kreider scored his team-leading 14th goal, Keith Kinkaid stopped 18 shots for his first shutout since 2018, and Artemi Panarin had an assist in his first game back since leaving the team as New York ended a three-game losing streak.

BLUE JACKETS 4, STARS 3, OT >> Zach Werenski scored 4:55 into overtime and Elvis Merzlikins made 27 saves, leading Columbus snapped a three-game losing streak.

JETS 5, MAPLE LEAFS 2 >>

Adam Lowry broke a tie at 7:39 of the third period and Winnipeg took the three-game series 2-1.

PANTHERS 4, BLACKHAWKS 2>> Aleksander Barkov had two goals and an assist, to lead Florida

FLAMES 3, CANADIENS 1 >> Sean Monahan scored twice, Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves and Calgary won for the second game in a row under new coach Darryl Sutter.

CAPITALS 5, FLYERS 4 >> Alex Ovechkin scored in Washington’s win. The goal pulled Ovechkin within one of tying Phil Esposito (717) for sixth on the NHL’s career goals list.

PENGUINS 3, SABRES 0 >> Casey DeSmith stopped 24 shots, Jake Guentzel scored the winning goal, and Pittsburgh handed Buffalo its 10th straight loss.

The Sabres dropped to 0-8-2 in their past 10. The winless streak matches the fourth-worst in team history and the longest since Buffalo dropped a franchise-worst 14 straight midway through the 201415 season.

Before the game, the Sabres found out that they would be without captain Jack Eichel for what coach Ralph Krueger called “the foreseeabl­e future.” The unspecifie­d injury is not considered season-ending, though Krueger was unable to provide a timetable on how much time Eichel will miss.

ISLANDERS 3, DEVILS 2 >> Kieffer Bellows scored his first two goals of the season and New York recorded its eighth straight victory.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5, BLUES 1>> Mark Stone had two goals and Max Pacioretty had a goal and two assists as Vegas routed St. Louis. Marc-Andre Fleury remained hot, stopping 33 shots for Vegas.
