Six Flags Hurricane Harbor park set to reopen
Water attraction, closed since October 2019, will have reduced attendance
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord on Wednesday announced plans to reopen with local and state approval.
The popular water park will welcome members and season passholders on May 22-23, then open its gates to the general public on Memorial Day weekend starting May 29.
Hurricane Harbor closed for the season in October 2019, and has not been open since, due largely because of coronavirus concerns and restrictions. When it reopens, the park will operate at reduced attendance levels in accordance with state reopening guidelines for theme parks and water parks and will use a reservation system to handle ticketing.
The park also will implement extensive safety measures already in use at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and other Six Flags parks across North America.
“As the temperatures rise and summer quickly approaches, we know our guests are anxious to visit Hurricane Harbor to cool off and enjoy the incredible experiences Six Flags is known for,” said park President Janine Durette in a statement. “Just as we have done successfully at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, we are looking forward to providing a safe and fun outdoor environment for Northern California families to spend time together.”
Hurricane Harbor Concord park Director Paul Kimura added: “This is a great day for our team. They are ready to get back to work and do what they love, and after more than a year and a half of being away, we are thrilled to be able to welcome back our guests to enjoy our world-class slides and water attractions.”
Park reopening dates are subject to change based on local, state and federal guidelines related to COVID-19.
