LIVERMORE >> A Livermore man has been arrested and charged with three misdemeanors after he allegedly invited two girls to swim in his pool during a recent heat wave, then attempted to film them changing in his bathroom, court records show.

Simon Meyer, 52, was charged with two counts of invading privacy by device and one count of annoying or molesting a minor, court records show. The third charge includes registration as a sex offender among the potential penalties.

Livermore police alleged in court records that the girls, ages 14 and 15, were changing into swimsuits in Meyer’s bathroom when they noticed the lens of a cellphone camera pointed at them. One of the girls turned off the video recorder, then Airdropped the video to herself as evidence.

Police later reviewed the video, which showed Meyer setting up the camera behind some rolls of toilet paper and leaving the bathroom, according to investigators.

Before it called police, the girls’ family confronted Meyer, video evidence in hand. Police say Meyer “denied being involved even after they showed him the cellphone footage.”

The girls told police that Meyer, a “family friend,” invited them over to swim in his pool June 19, when the National Weather Service reported local temperatures reaching 101 degrees Fahrenheit. When they arrived at his home, Meyer “directed” them to change in his bathroom, according to Livermore detectives.

“This incident occurred in the residence of Meyer where he specifically persuaded two female juveniles to use his master bathroom instead of a guest bathroom that was also readily available,” Livermore police Detective

Ivan Alvarez wrote in court records. “Additionally, as seen in the video recording, Meyer is seen manipulating the cellular phone in a position to capture any person who walks into the bathroom.”

Meyer has been in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin since his June 20 arrest, according to jail records. His bail amount has not been listed on the jail’s registry. His next court date is set for mid-August, a pretrial hearing, court records show.
