Three wounded in unrelated East Oakland shootings

OAKLAND » Three men were wounded in shootings that happened in different areas of East Oakland between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, authoritie­s said.

One of the men was in critical condition and the other two were in stable condition, authoritie­s said. The shootings are not related, authoritie­s said.

The man in critical condition, who is 30, was shot about 12:49 a.m. Thursday in the 8400 block of Olive Street,

Officers responded to the scene based on a

ShotSpotte­r alert, but the man already had gotten his own transporta­tion to a hospital.

A motive for the shooting is under investigat­ion, and no arrests have been announced.

About 8:47 p.m. Wednesday a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 8900 block of Bancroft Avenue,

apparently after a confrontat­ion with another man who fled before police arrived. The wounded man was taken to a hospital from the scene.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been released.

And just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, a 25-year-old man showed up at at Highland

Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower body.

He told police he had been walking in the area of East 28th Street and Tenth Avenue, less than a mile from the hospital, when he heard gunshots and saw he had been wounded. He got his own transporta­tion to the hospital.

A motive for the shooting is under investigat­ion.
