SANTA CLARA >> When it comes to jersey numbers for the 49ers' veterans added this offseason, whose do you need to know most?

Well, because he cost them the most money to sign, look to cornerback Charvarius Ward, who'll don No. 35. It's the same number he wore the past four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

When it comes to which jersey number was surrendered, look no further than No. 3. Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (No. 3) took the number formerly worn by safety Jaquiski Tartt, who remains a free agent and looks further unlikely to return after seven seasons.

Also notable: NaVorro Bowman's former No. 53 was last worn by Mark Nzeocha and now it goes to linebacker Kemoko Turay; K'Waun Wiliams' No. 24 has been bequeathed to cornerback Ka'Dar Hollman.

Initial numbers for rookies will be revealed today as they begin their own minicamp. All offseason numbers are subject to change before the season begins in four months.

Here are the numbers assigned to veteran additions:

No. 3: WR Ray-Ray McCloud

No. 6: WR Marcus Johnson

No. 13: WR KeeSean Johnson

No. 17: WR Malik Turner

No. 24: CB Ka'Dar Hollman

No. 30: S George Odum

No. 31: CB Darqueze Dennard

No. 48: LB Oren Burks

No. 53: LB Kemoko Turay

No. 98: DT Hassan Ridgeway Media access will return to the 49ers' practice fields this week, albeit for the rookie minicamp rather than the fullfledged offseason program that's been off-limits since it opened April 19.

The 49ers' organized team activities will cover nine dates between May 23 and June 9, followed by mandatory minicamp from June 13-15.
