Sue Dornblaser Evans, a long-time resident of Danville, CA, passed away on Aug. 31, 2022 at home. Sue was born November 15, 1933 in Scranton, PA and raised in Hazelton, PA. She attended Hazelton public schools, The Baldwin School (1951), and Vassar College (BA in Economics and Sociology, 1955). Sue married Roger J. Evans, Jr., of Trenton, NJ in 1955; they started their family in Cleveland, OH, then moved to Santa Ana, CA in 1958. They lived temporarily in Honolulu, HI in 1961-62 and moved to Danville, CA in 1967. Sue and Roger relocated to Walnut Creek, CA in 2015. Sue spent portions of many summers with Roger and their family at their family cottage in Friendship, ME. Sue worked for the Contra Costa County Office of Education’s Regional Occupation Program in special projects for 20 years, helping high school students and adults gain employment. Sue also earned her Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Saint Mary’s College of California in 1988. She and Roger traveled to Australia and New Zealand, Russia, England and Wales. Sue served as a deacon for the Community Presbyterian Church of Danville and spent her free time volunteering on the Contra Costa County Juvenile Justice Commission and as a docent at the Blackhawk Auto Museum. Sue will be remembered for her life-long interest in art, literature, and science, and as an avid reader. Sue is predeceased by Roger, her husband of 61 years. Sue is survived by her brother George Billow Dornblaser, Jr.; her daughter Elizabeth Anne Evans, her son and daughter-in-law Peter Billow Evans and Katherine Matlock Evans, her son Roger Jackson Evans III, her daughter and son-in-law Sarah Evans Lewis and Steven Andrew Lewis; and grandchildren Elizabeth Larelle (Nathaniel Hoffelmeyer) Evans and David Randolph Evans; Ashtin Sue Evans, Arianne Grace Evans, and Amelia Faith Evans; and Victoria Randolph Lewis and Benjamin Evans Lewis. Services will be private. Sue will be interred with Roger at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
