Curry supports Green after `ridiculous' call

Stephen Curry saw how frustrated Draymond Green was Sunday after he was slapped with a “crazy” late-game technical foul from the bench. So the self-proclaimed “Petty King” decided to do something about it.

Curry intentionally picked up a technical foul in solidarity with Green less than a minute after the do-it-all forward was assessed one for celebrating on the court while the ball was in play.

The Timberwolves split the two free throws stemming from the fouls, but it didn't matter. The Warriors already had the game in the bag, ultimately blowing out the Timberwolves 137-114.

Green said he “absolutely” appreciated Curry's show of support, especially since he believed he didn't deserve the tech in the first place.

“It's the NBA,” Green said after the win. “Your teammates make a good move. I didn't affect the play. There was no one near me, so it sucks. And the fact that that's going to count against my tech count? Come on, that's ridiculous.”

The game had gone the Warriors' way from the start, and Green played his best game of the season, earning his first double-double of the season with a 19-point, 11-assist and zero-turnover night. The Warriors were giddy to be within reach of their third consecutive win and second road victory. So much so, that an elated Green celebrated a Jordan Poole layup by mimicking the fourth-year guard's move, hopping on one foot near the Warriors' bench with less than 90 seconds remai1ning in the game.

Where Green went wrong, though, was that he stepped foot on the court while the ball was in play. A whistle was blown, and Green was handed a technical foul.

Green was clearly annoyed with the call — and so were the rest of the Warriors. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the rout, Curry waved his towel as he ran on the court and yelled after Donte DiVincenzo drilled a 3 — much to the amusement of his teammates.

That night, Curry posted the video on Instagram of the two stars' back-to-back techs, layering the COPS theme song, “Bad Boys,” in the background.

“I'll take the fine!” Curry wrote. “Good win Dubs!”

Green now has seven technical fouls this season. That means, with the majority of the season still left to be played, Green is almost halfway to reaching the 16-tech benchmark that would require him to be suspended for a game.

“It's crazy. I probably got four techs this year that are questionable,” he said. “They told me I was at the lane line, but I thought I was standing in the corner. So I don't know. It sucks though.”
