Woman suspected of making threats toward Christian schools campus has been arrested

A woman who is suspected of making escalated threats toward a group of Christian schools on one campus was arrested Thursday night, police said.

Police were contacted about the threats Tuesday, then were notified of even more dangerous threats Wednesday, Walnut Creek police Lt. Holley Connors said in a statement. The threats were serious enough that Contra Costa Christian Schools on Larkey Lane sent students enrolled in afterschool classes home early on Wednesday and did not hold classes Thursday.

According to Connors, the school, which serves K-12 students through several programs at one location, received “numerous” emails and voicemails on Tuesday that spoke of vague threats and violence toward the school. Connors said the school received more emails with even-more-threatening language, one of them with a picture of a rifle attached.

Detectives eventually identified the source of the threats as a 33-year-old Antioch resident and, along with the Central County SWAT team, served a search and arrest warrant at her residence, Connors said. Police did not say how the woman was identified as the suspect; investigators do not believe the woman had assistance from another person but are following up, she said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, Connors said.

She was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility and held on $25,000 bail. Jail records were inaccessible Friday; it was not clear if she remained in custody.

Police are still investigating and asked anyone with additional information to contact them at 925-9435844. Anonymous tips can be left at 925-943-5865.
