A 34-year-old man was shot during a carjacking Sunday night in East Oakland and a 27-year-old woman was wounded early Monday in West Oakland, authorities said.

Both victims were in stable condition.

The carjacking happened about 9:52 p.m. Sunday in the 9000 block of MacArthur Boulevard.

A man had just left a liquor store and was in his Toyota Corolla when it was blocked by another vehicle, authorities said. Two men got out of that vehicle, pulled the man out of his car and shot at him several times, wounding him in the hand.

The suspects then drove away in the man's car. It had not been recovered as of Monday morning. The vehicle the suspects came in was driven off by another person.

The woman was shot in the hip about 3:20 a.m. Monday at a housing complex in the 1000 block of Eighth Street. Police said she got her own transportation to a hospital. It was not immediately clear if the woman lived at the complex.

Police said numerous shell casings of various calibers were found in the area, indicating the possibility of a shoot-out. Investigators were still trying to determine if the woman was involved in the shooting or was hit by a stray bullet, authorities said.

Some parked vehicles were also hit by the gunfire, but no other injuries were reported.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $7,500 in reward money in the carjacking related shooting and up to $5,000 in the other for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
