A suspect in a deadly shooting at a house party in Oakley was scheduled to be released from custody Friday, police said.

Wednesday, 18-year-old Antioch resident Jason

Walizada was arrested and booked into Contra Costa County jail in connection with the Oct. 21 shooting, which left left one teenager dead and three others injured. He was being held on $1,150,000 bail as well as a homicide warrant.

“This case continues to be an ongoing and very active investigation,” the

Oakley Police Department said in a news release Friday. “With this being the situation, we are unable to speak about the details of the case or what we have uncovered so far. Walizada will be released from custody later today pending further developments in our investigation. This latest development is always considered to be a possibility in major cases like ours where there are large amounts of evidence to process and sort through.”

Police did not provide any other information about the situation with Walizada, who was apprehended with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service in the 2600 block of Orange Way in Antioch.

About 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 21, officers responded to a noise complaint at a home in the 400 block of Shannon Way. They left after an 18-year-old woman who lived there declined an offer to help break up a party, according to Oakley police Chief Paul Beard.

Not long after, the party turned violent and several shots were fired in front of the home, leading to the death of 16-year-old Kemarion Tucker, who lived in Brentwood and attended Liberty High School. Three other teens — a 17-year-old girl as well as two boys, ages 15 and 17 — were taken to a hospital. The girl was released within a couple of days, while the two boys still were in the hospital last week.

“This case represents the largest, most violent and deadly mass shooting involving youth in the history of Oakley,” Beard said in the news release. “We are not done in our pursuit of justice in this killing and it is our end goal to remove all responsible parties from free society and incarcerate them.”
