Herbert William Casey III of Concord, CA was reunited with the Lord on January 30, 2024. At the time of Herb’s passing, he was surrounded and comforted in warmth and enduring love by his wife Margaret (Peggy) of 57 years and his daughters Maureen Thomas, Colleen Garner, and Kelly-Ann Conover, and in Spirit his Sister Bobbie Shay, Son-In-Laws Ron Thomas, Gary Garner, and Dustin Conover, and six Grandchild­ren Sean and Ryan Thomas, Benjamin and Bridgette Garner, and Abigail and Alex Conover. Herb was born on October 8, 1941, to the family of LTC Herbert Casey II and Margaret Haggerty-Casey, and sister Roberta (Bobbie) Casey-Shay in Queens, NY. Herb graduated from Seton Hall HS in Wantagh, NY in 1959. He married Peggy, the love of his life in 1966. Herb earned a BS in Finance from Connecticu­t’s Fairfield University in 1969. The family relocated to San Francisco in 1972. Herb earned his MBA from John F. Kennedy University in 1985. For 31 years he worked for Wells Fargo and Bank of America, retiring in 2003 as Vice President of the Auditor Division. Herb and his family were longtime members of St. Bonaventur­e Catholic Church in Concord, CA. Herb was ordained a Deacon in the Oakland Diocese in November 2008 and was assigned to St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Walnut Creek, CA until his second retirement in June of 2021. Herb and Peggy served in many ways in both church communitie­s, as well as with Maryknoll Brothers and Sisters. Herb was a kind, gentle, compassion­ate, selfless, and inquisitiv­e man who possessed a witty sense of humor. He never stopped learning and helped innumerabl­e people. He loved his wife passionate­ly and his family dearly. Herb dutifully supported them all through good times and bad all the while remaining steadfast in his belief that he was a child of God and that his faith would one day deliver him to his heavenly place beside Him. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, February 16th, 2024 at St. Bonaventur­e in Clayton, CA from 3:00 to 5:00pm. A Mass will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at St. John Vianney in Walnut Creek, CA at 11:00am.
