Three wounded in two separate Oakland shootings minutes apart

Three people were wounded in two shootings that happened less than 10 minutes apart Wednesday night in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.

All of the victims were in stable condition Thursday. Police said the two shootings are not related.

About 7:37 p.m. Wednesday a 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were shot in the 1900 block of Auseon Avenue, a mostly residential area. The shooting activated a gunshot detection system.

Police said the two, who they were told are in a relationship, had just parked a vehicle and were in the process of getting out when someone began shooting at them.

The woman was wounded in the face and the man in the leg, authorities said. The shooter fled before police got to the scene. The two wounded people were taken to a hospital by ambulance.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests were announced.

At 7:43 p.m., a 26-yearold man was shot in the leg in the 2100 block of Courtland Avenue, another mostly residential area a few miles from Auseon Avenue.

Police responding to a gunshot detection system alert did not find the man there. He had been driven to a hospital by a friend before officers got there.

Police did find a blood trail and numerous vehicles and at least one residence that had been hit by gunfire.

No motive has been determined yet for the shooting. No arrests were announced.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the double shooting and up to $5,000 in the other shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-2383426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
