Paxton Media Group has acquired the Plain Dealer & Sun in North Vernon, Ind. from the King family. Paxton Media Group is a family-owned media company headquartered in Paducah,
Ky. The company owns 70-plus newspapers across the Midwest and Southeast, including 13 dailies in Indiana. The Plain Dealer & Sun has served Jennings County, Ind. since 1864 and has been published by the King family since 1954. Dirks, Van Essen & April represented the King family in the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Schneps Media has acquired the leading group of local political news websites in New York City from Stephen Witt, including Kingscountypolitics.com. Witt founded the website in
2014 and over the past several years expanded into Queens and Manhattan, developing local political websites dedicated to each borough. Schneps Media is a family-run business owned by Victoria and Joshua Schneps. In addition to the company’s print products, they also publish dozens of websites, social media channels and email newsletters.
Reid Newspapers has acquired three Oklahoma newspapers, including the Miami News-record, Grove Grand Lake News and The Delaware County Journal from Gannett. Reid Newspapers is a second-generation, family-owned newspaper company that owns seven other newspapers in Oklahoma and operates two large central printing operations. Dirks, Van Essen & April represented Gannett in the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Quincy Media has sold The Quincy (Ill.) Herald-whig and Hannibal (Mo.) Courier Post to Phillips Media Group, LLC, headquartered in Arkansas. Quincy Media had owned and published the Herald-whig for almost 95 years., while the Hannibal Courier Post was purchased in 2019. Dirks, Van Essen & April represented Quincy Media in the transaction. No terms of the transaction were announced.
Neves Media Publishing has purchased four Florida based weekly newspapers from Gannett, which includes The Apalachicola Times, Port St. Joe Star, the Washington County News and the Holmes County Times-advertiser. Neves Media Publishing is owned by Todd Neves.
