Paxton Media Group (PMG) has sold the Las Vegas (N.M.) Optic to O’rourke Media Group. The Las Vegas Optic is one of the 46 newspaper operations PMG recently acquired from Landmark Community Newspapers LLC. The family-owned O’rourke Media Group launched in 2018 and has acquired community publications in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vermont, and Arizona. PMG, based in Paducah, Ky., has 118 publications in 13 states. The Landmark deal included papers in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, and Iowa. Dirks, Van Essen & April represented PMG. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Wisconsin Media Group, LLC., an affiliate company of O’rourke Media Group, has acquired Unified Newspaper Group, which is owned by Woodward Communications, Inc. Unified Newspaper Group is comprised of four weekly newspapers and digital websites that serve the communities of Oregon, Verona, Fitchburg, and Stoughton, Wisc. Unified Newspaper Group also produces a shopper publication, a Hispanic publication, and other niche/lifestyle publications and related events, which were included in the transaction. Euclid Media Group, a media company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, has purchased the LEO Weekly, an alternative newsweekly publication in Louisville, Ky., from Aaron Yarmuth and John Yarmuth. The LEO Weekly has served the Louisville area since 1990. The acquisition marks the tenth for Euclid Media Group.
Paxton Media Group (PMG) has sold Huskers Illustrated to Nicholas Holdings. Nicholas Holdings is owned by long-time newspaper veteran Terry Kroeger, who also owns Smith Kroeger, an Omaha-based marketing and communications company. Huskers Illustrated, which focuses on University of Nebraska sports, was one of the 46 newspaper operations PMG recently acquired from Landmark Community Newspapers LLC. Dirks, Van Essen & April represented Paxton Media Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
