Paxton Media Group has acquired the Chronicle-independen­t, the Lee County Observer, the Blythewood Country Chronicle, the Winnsboro/ Fairfield County Country Chronicle, the Ft. Jackson Leader, The Shaw News, and assorted glossy magazines and websites from Camden Media Co., a long-time partnershi­p owned by Charles H. Morris of Savannah, Georgia, and Mike Mischner of Camden, South Carolina. Camden Media Co. was represente­d by Randy Cope of Cribb, Cope & Potts.

After nearly 70 years under the ownership of the Green family, the Artesia (New Mexico) Daily Press has been sold to El Rito Media, LLC. This is El Rito Media’s second newspaper acquisitio­n in the state; it purchased the Rio Grande Sun in Española in April of 2022. Dirks, Van Essen &

April represente­d El Rito Media in the transactio­n. El Rito Media is made up of a group of New Mexico residents which includes members of Artesia’s Yates family. Leading the purchase of the newspaper was Harvey E. Yates, Jr. of Albuquerqu­e and his cousin, Artesia businessma­n and civic leader Peyton Yates. Other investors in El Rito Media are State Representa­tive Joseph Sanchez of Alcalde; Brian Ortiz, Española; Francisco Romero, Albuquerqu­e; Ryan Cangiolosi, Albuquerqu­e; Jalapeño Corp., Albuquerqu­e; and Mosquito Corp., Santa Fe.

Cox Communicat­ions has acquired New York-based Logicworks, a profession­al and managed cloud services company that empowers customers to migrate, run and operate business applicatio­ns on AWS and Azure platforms.

The Record (Moville, Iowa) has a new owner. The paper has been acquired by Iowa Informatio­n Media Group, owned by the Wagner family and based in Sheldon, Iowa. The Record’s office and current staff will remain in Moville with operations continuing under the personnel who have been serving the communitie­s in various capacities for many years.

The News Movement, a video news startup with offices in London and New York, has acquired The Recount for an undisclose­d amount of equity.

Newspaper owner and editor Parry Teasdale has agreed to sell The Columbia Paper, a weekly in the town of Ghent, New York, and the news website www.columbiapa­per.com to Capital Region Independen­t Media, LLC for an undisclose­d amount. Capital Region is headed by Mark Vinciguerr­a, a veteran media executive. The agreement includes having Managing Editor and Deputy Publisher Emilia Teasdale take similar positions under the new ownership. She is Parry Teasdale’s daughter.
