Ben­ton shuts out Wild­cats

BEN­TON – The Ben­ton Pan­thers soc­cer team shut out the El Do­rado Wild­cats 4-0 Tues­day in 5A South Con­fer­ence play at Pan­thers Field in Ben­ton. The win puts the Pan­thers at 10-5-1 over­all, 10-3 in the South, a game back of first-place teams Lakeside and Hot Springs, which play each other on Fri­day. Ben­ton closes out South play Fri­day

host­ing Lake Hamil­ton on se­nior night.

“Played re­ally good,” Ben­ton Coach Bobby Winn said of Tues­day’s win. “It’s a good in­di­ca­tion of how our sea­son should be finishing with a 4-0 win. We dom­i­nated the game from the start. Only al­lowed them three chances all night shoot­ing. De­fen­sively, we played great.”

The Pan­thers would get the scor­ing started when se­nior Jei­den Ibarra scored five min­utes into the game with the as­sist com­ing from sopho­more Matt Wood.

“Then we shot over and over and over again pres­sur­ing them into get­ting frus­trated,” Winn said.

From then on, it was se­nior Gar­rett Bosley’s match, who would score the fi­nal three goals for the hat trick, though he had chances for a cou­ple as­sists as well.

Se­nior Sam Bet­tis and fresh­man Dil­lon Bosley had an as­sist each, while se­nior goal­keeper Matt Braslavsky had two “great saves,” ac­cord­ing to Winn.
