Benton shuts out Wildcats
BENTON – The Benton Panthers soccer team shut out the El Dorado Wildcats 4-0 Tuesday in 5A South Conference play at Panthers Field in Benton. The win puts the Panthers at 10-5-1 overall, 10-3 in the South, a game back of first-place teams Lakeside and Hot Springs, which play each other on Friday. Benton closes out South play Friday
hosting Lake Hamilton on senior night.
“Played really good,” Benton Coach Bobby Winn said of Tuesday’s win. “It’s a good indication of how our season should be finishing with a 4-0 win. We dominated the game from the start. Only allowed them three chances all night shooting. Defensively, we played great.”
The Panthers would get the scoring started when senior Jeiden Ibarra scored five minutes into the game with the assist coming from sophomore Matt Wood.
“Then we shot over and over and over again pressuring them into getting frustrated,” Winn said.
From then on, it was senior Garrett Bosley’s match, who would score the final three goals for the hat trick, though he had chances for a couple assists as well.
Senior Sam Bettis and freshman Dillon Bosley had an assist each, while senior goalkeeper Matt Braslavsky had two “great saves,” according to Winn.
Benton freshman Samuel Morales competes in a 4-0 shutout over El Dorado on Tuesday.
