After defeating Perryville 2-0 Friday in round one of the Region 2 Regional Tournament, the Lady Cardinals got revenge over arch rival Glen Rose on Saturday, winning 9-4.

Making the finals against Baptist Prep, Harmony Grove could not keep the momentum, slipping 7-4 on Sunday. The Lady Cardinals fell to Baptist 3-2 on April 23.

Harmony Grove fell behind early Sunday, trailing 2-0 after the first. Baptist used four straight one-out hits to take the lead.

Facing a two-out situation in the second, the Lady Eagles strung together three straight knocks to lead 4-0.

Harmony Grove saw its first baserunner in the fourth after the first nine were sat down in order

to start the contest. Ragan Purdy singled, followed by a walk to Mackenzie Morrow to start the inning.

However, an infield pop out, followed by a fielder’s choice double play, ended the threat.

Ace Cloie Mitchell pitched around a one-out triple in the bottom of the fourth, allowing a fifth run in the fifth on an RBI single.

Baptist would go ahead 7-0 in the sixth, using a 2-RBI single in the process.

Down to their final three outs, the Lady Cardinals finally broke through in the seventh, scoring two on an RBI single from Shanna Shoptaw that scored Kylie Burnett and a passed ball that allowed Mitchell to come in.

Harmony Grove would not complete the comeback effort, however.

Baptist would win the hits battle, too, 13-3.

Purdy, Morrow and Shoptaw tallied the Lady Cardinals only knocks.

From the circle, Mitchell worked 5.2 innings after Burnett could not make it out of the first frame. Burnett forced one out while allowing two runs on three hits.

Harmony Grove will take on the third seed from Region 1 to open the state tournament in Harrison on Thursday. First pitch is planned for 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Harmony Grove used a big fifth inning to down Glen Rose, scoring five to regain the lead.

Glen Rose defeated the Lady Cardinals 8-3 during the regular season and was the No. 1 seed in Regional play. It would finish with a win Sunday to earn the three seed in the state tournament.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Harmony Grove would watch it disappear as Glen Rose scored one in the bottom half before adding three in the second.

In the fifth, Harmony Grove took advantage of a leadoff error and back-toback walks that loaded the bases for Meagan Clay. With a 1-1 count, Clay mashed a double to left field to pull Harmony Grove within 4-2. Purdy would be gunned at the plate on the hit.

Burnett, though, followed with a 2-RBI double before a ground out RBI from Saige Jewett and an RBI single from Shoptaw put the Lady Cardinals up 6-4.

Harmony Grove tacked on three more in the sixth to all but guarantee a shot in the finals.

Glen Rose put a runner on in the seventh as it watched its Regional hopes slip away.
