Benton officers to host fishing derby

The Benton Police Department will be hosting the annual

Hooked on Fishing fishing derby Wednesday.

The event, which is open to children 12 and under, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Sunset Lake in Benton.

Individuals can participate in the event for free.

Registration is free and begins at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event.

“Bring your fishing pole and bait, and we’ll see you there. Door prizes and best-catch prizes will be awarded,” said Krista Petty, spokesperson for the Benton

Police Department.

Sponsors for the event include Walmart of Benton, Lisa’s Bait Shop and the Benton Fraternal Order of Police.
