Everett drops 1st game in tourney
OMAHA, Neb. –
Benton Everett Buick GMC senior American Legion team opened the Lockerroom CWS Tournament with an 8-2 loss to the SW Shockers (Lawton, OK) Wednesday night in Omaha, Nebraska.
Everett would get down 2-0 on a 2-run triple in the first inning before the Shockers made it a
3-0 game in the second on a sacrifice fly.
It remained a 3-run game until the fifth inning when the
Shockers got some twoout magic with a single, double and 2-run single for the 5-0 lead. Benton would get helped by walks in the top of the sixth when both Jake Green and Carmen Kidd led off with free passes, and Green would score on an error two batters later for Everett’s first run. Adam Sims followed with an RBI single for the 5-2 game, but that would be it for Everett.
The Shockers added three runs in the bottom of the inning for the 8-2 final, outhitting Benton 10-4.
Blake Ferrell, Sims, Sean Small and Christian Young all had a hit each for Everett.
Benton continued play in the tourney this morning vs. Post 105 (Hickman, Nebraska) at 9:30 and play the Sioux Falls Cyclones (SD) at noon.
