Everett drops 1st game in tourney

OMAHA, Neb. –

Ben­ton Everett Buick GMC senior Amer­i­can Le­gion team opened the Lock­er­room CWS Tour­na­ment with an 8-2 loss to the SW Shock­ers (Law­ton, OK) Wed­nes­day night in Omaha, Ne­braska.

Everett would get down 2-0 on a 2-run triple in the first in­ning be­fore the Shock­ers made it a

3-0 game in the sec­ond on a sac­ri­fice fly.

It re­mained a 3-run game un­til the fifth in­ning when the

Shock­ers got some twoout magic with a sin­gle, dou­ble and 2-run sin­gle for the 5-0 lead. Ben­ton would get helped by walks in the top of the sixth when both Jake Green and Car­men Kidd led off with free passes, and Green would score on an er­ror two bat­ters later for Everett’s first run. Adam Sims fol­lowed with an RBI sin­gle for the 5-2 game, but that would be it for Everett.

The Shock­ers added three runs in the bot­tom of the in­ning for the 8-2 fi­nal, out­hit­ting Ben­ton 10-4.

Blake Fer­rell, Sims, Sean Small and Chris­tian Young all had a hit each for Everett.

Ben­ton con­tin­ued play in the tourney this morn­ing vs. Post 105 (Hick­man, Ne­braska) at 9:30 and play the Sioux Falls Cy­clones (SD) at noon.
