Vasca Lorene West­brook

Vasca Lorene West­brook, 103, of Malvern, passed away Tues­day, July 9. She was born May 6, 1916, in Traskwood, to the late Wil­liam and Dixie Mills.

In addition to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, James West­brook; a twin brother, Van E. Mills; four sis­ters; a grand­son, Mark Koonce; and a great­grand­son, James Davis.

At age 101, Vasca was se­lected to rep­re­sent En­core Nurs­ing & Re­hab in a dis­trict pageant. She placed first-runner up in the state pageant. She was an ac­com­plished seam­stress and a former Girl Scouts leader. She was very ac­tive in civic or­ga­ni­za­tions and taught Sun­day School for 40 years. Vasca was a former mem­ber of Cal­vary Bap­tist Church, First Bap­tist Church and Geyer Springs Bap­tist church dur­ing her life­time, and was a Past Ma­tron for the Or­der of the Eastern Star.

She is sur­vived by a son, James G. West­brook Jr., of Mil­ton, Kansas; four daugh­ters, Dixie J. Smith, of Ben­ton, Jayme (Russ) Story, of Pip­per­ton, Ten­nessee, Nell West­brook (Norm) Cy­man, of Bran­son, Mis­souri, and Joy
