Another an­gel has been called home. Rachel Lynn Thomas, 55, of Ben­ton, passed July 24, af­ter suf­fer­ing a ter­mi­nal ill­ness. Rachel was born in Dal­las. She called Jones, Louisiana, her home un­til she re­lo­cated to Arkansas, where she made Ben­ton her home.

She is sur­vived by her fa­ther, Ce­cil Thomas, of Jones, Louisiana; a sis­ter, An­gela John­son and her hus­band, Kris, of Bryant; two neph­ews, Kyle John­son and wife, Natasha, and K.C. John­son and wife, Lind­sey, of Bryant; and a great-niece, Paloma, of De­catur, Alabama.

Rachel was pre­ceded in death by her mother, Lu­cille (Lu­cie) Miller, of the home.

Rachel was raised as a tom boy. She could be seen rid­ing farm equip­ment, as her grand­fa­ther main­tained a farm. She en­joyed the out­doors and loved to fish and hunt and many mem­o­ries will re­main of times at the deer camp as a child.

She at­tended Ham­burg High School and later re­lo­cated to Scott, where she worked on a sod farm. Later, she worked as a lawn and grounds keeper.

Visi­ta­tion will be held at 10 a.m. Mon­day, July 29, at Smith-ben­ton Funeral Home, lo­cated at 322 N. Mar­ket St., with a me­mo­rial ser­vice fol­low­ing at 11 a.m.

Fam­ily Com­ments: Many thanks to Dr. Heather Moore and Anita at UAMS Can­cer Cen­ter and other staff at the in­fu­sion first and fourth floors as she re­ceived chemo­ther­apy, many days deal­ing with con­stant pain where she wasn’t al­ways the best pa­tient. In ad­di­tion, many thanks to Hos­pice Home Care and those at Cot­tage Lane Health and Re­hab for their nurs­ing care, kind­ness and un­der­stand­ing.
