Rachel Lynn Thomas
Another angel has been called home. Rachel Lynn Thomas, 55, of Benton, passed July 24, after suffering a terminal illness. Rachel was born in Dallas. She called Jones, Louisiana, her home until she relocated to Arkansas, where she made Benton her home.
She is survived by her father, Cecil Thomas, of Jones, Louisiana; a sister, Angela Johnson and her husband, Kris, of Bryant; two nephews, Kyle Johnson and wife, Natasha, and K.C. Johnson and wife, Lindsey, of Bryant; and a great-niece, Paloma, of Decatur, Alabama.
Rachel was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille (Lucie) Miller, of the home.
Rachel was raised as a tom boy. She could be seen riding farm equipment, as her grandfather maintained a farm. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt and many memories will remain of times at the deer camp as a child.
She attended Hamburg High School and later relocated to Scott, where she worked on a sod farm. Later, she worked as a lawn and grounds keeper.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, at Smith-benton Funeral Home, located at 322 N. Market St., with a memorial service following at 11 a.m.
Services are entrusted to Smith-benton Funeral Home. Online guest book: www.smithfamilycares.com.
Family Comments: Many thanks to Dr. Heather Moore and Anita at UAMS Cancer Center and other staff at the infusion first and fourth floors as she received chemotherapy, many days dealing with constant pain where she wasn’t always the best patient. In addition, many thanks to Hospice Home Care and those at Cottage Lane Health and Rehab for their nursing care, kindness and understanding.
