Frances Joy Scott Pelton
Frances Joy Scott Pelton, 88, died Monday, Aug. 19, while surrounded by her family. She was born March 9, 1931, in the Salem Community of Saline County to Elmer and Flossie Hamilton Scott. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Bryant High School where she was valedictorian and captain of the basketball team. After graduating from Draughon School of Business in Little Rock, she worked for the FBI. She married John Pelton Jr. on April 1, 1951. They were married for 68 years and together they raised three children. She worked as executive administrative assistant in the Elementary Education Department at UALR for almost 20 years. She was devoted to her family and loved hosting large family gatherings. As a longtime dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church, she served in many capacities. Through United Methodist Women, she exercised her passion and care for others. She served her community through delivering Meals on Wheels, serving at CJCHON and the Rice Depot. Her love of music was instilled in her children and grandchildren. She loved playing the piano, singing in the sanctuary choir and playing in the bell choir until recently.
She is survived by three children, Belinda (Phil) Price, Mark (Barbara) Pelton and Mary Anne (Karl) Seibert; eight grandchildren, Matt Price, Hannah Hunt, Emily Rosenthal, Melissa Abuzeid, Elizabeth Price, Abigail Kreie, Luke Pelton and Joy Pelton; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Salem United Methodist Church, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m.
