Police, school districts responded to online threat
Many police departments and school districts across the state –including Saline County – have released statements about an online threat of a school shooting.
The Little Rock FBI office issued a general awareness statement about a threat involving a possible shooting Thursday in Arkansas and Wednesday in Kentucky. The FBI could not confirm the source of the threat.
“At this time, no corroborating evidence or useful details have been uncovered in regard to the information provided to the FBI,” according to Arkansas State Police. “In the event more specific or credible information is received; it will be shared with local law enforcement offices, state and local school officials, as well as Arkansas citizens.”
Harmony Grove Superintendent Heath Bennett wrote in a statement that the person responsible for the threat lives in another country.
There has not been any threats made specific to any school district in Saline County, according to district officials.
School district officials across the county agree that student safety is a top priority. All districts plan to work with local police departments to keep their students safe.
Anyone with information about a threat of violence, whether the site of the threat may be a school or other public place, he or she is encouraged to contact Arkansas State Police or local law enforcement, according to ASP.
