Court honors 3A baseball champions
The Saline County Quorum Court honored the state champion 2019 Harmony Grove baseball team during their meeting Monday night.
“If you don’t already know,” said Saline County Judge Jeff Arey. “At the end of last year’s baseball season, the Harmony Grove Cardinals won the 3A State Championship. We are very proud of them in my hometown of Haskell and in Saline County.”
The Cardinals defeated Central Arkansas Christian 4-3 in May at Baum-walker Stadium in Fayetteville to capture their first 3A Championship in school history.
“It’s my pleasure to present them with a Saline County proclamation,” Arey said.
Arey presented the proclamation to Coach Brandon Mynhier.
“This is the first time in the history of the school that the Cardinals have won a championship title,” Arey said.
During his reading of the proclamation, Arey cited the hard work, sportsmanship, dedication and talent of the student athletes as key elements of their success and lauded them for bringing honor to their school, the city of Haskell and Saline County.
Mynhier was also mentioned in the proclamation for his achievements of being named Tri-lakes and District Coach of the Year.
“The entire coaching staff, team member parents, faculty and student body of Harmony Grove High School were integral in guiding the team to victory with unwavering support,” Arey said.
