Bryant junior girls tops in NLR
NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Just like the Bryant varsity boys and junior high boys, the Bryant Jr. Lady Hornets would take the top spot in the Arkansas National Guard - Be Your Best - XC Meet this past Saturday at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock.
The Jr. Lady Hornets dominated on Saturday, taking the meet title with 32 points, while Pulaski Academy was runner-up with 74 points, 42 points off of Bryant’s pace. North Little Rock (118) took third, Heber Springs (125) fourth and Harding Academy (144) took fifth, while the Benton Junior High girls finished 11th with 306 points.
For Bryant, Adalynn Mellon was the top Jr. Lady Hornet finisher, taking third overall in a time of 14:17.20 for the 2-mile race.
Bryant put four more in the top 10 with Aidan Fisher finishing fifth in 14:24.60, Mariel Ocana sixth in 14:27.90, Maddie Nelson eighth in 14:36.80 and Paige Spicer was 10th in 14:41.80.
The Jr. Lady Hornets put five more in the top 20 (10 overall) with Grace Taylor (14:53.20) 13th, Ashleigh Byles (15:00.30) 14th, Kaitlin Phillips (15:05.90) 17th, Gracie Rocha (15:08.20) 18th and Perla Limon (15:14.00) 19th.
For the Benton girls,
Anna Claire Mitchell led the Jr. Lady Panthers with a 70th-place finish in 17:26.90.
The Benton junior boys had a solid finish at the meet, taking fourth overall with 103 points.
Benton freshman Ben Watson led the Jr. Panthers with a sixth-place finish in a time of 12:20.50. Benton eighth-grader Jordan Ashley (19th - 13:05.80) and Will Tudor (21st - 13:11.40) both ran well. Eighth-grader Christian Street also took 30th in 13:28.90.
