OBITUARIES Marty Eugene Polk
Marty Eugene Polk, of Sheridan, was born March 17,
1962 in Marvell, the son of Vivian Anne Whitson Polk and the late Bobby Lee Polk. To say that Marty loved life was a huge understatement. He lived every moment of his 57 years to the fullest with his “Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much” personality. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sheridan and was the road superintendent for Saline County. Among his many interests, music and sports topped the list. He had played bass in church and also formerly with the Adrian Livingston Band, and was currently “lead” bass player with Exit 123. He belonged to Arkansas High School Fast Pitch Association, Arkansas Officials Association, for officiating football and softball. He leaves a rich legacy of good memories, of a great man.
Marty died Friday, Sept. 27, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 57.
He is survived by his wife, and best friend, Bridget Holiman Polk, of Sheridan; his mother, Anne Polk, of Gainesville, Alabama; two daughters, Holly (Chris) Sory, of Bryant, and Megan Polk, of North Little Rock; a stepdaughter, Jaylynn (Blake) Hutson, of Haskell; a stepson, Drew (Caitlynn) Chitwood, of Clearwater, Florida; two brothers, Bill Polk, of Green Forest, and Vince Polk, of Gainesville, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Isabel, Barrett, Cora, Jasper, Murray, Witten, Blakelynn and Cooper; his mother-in-law, Edith Holiman, of Benton; and a number of other family members and countless numbers of friends.
