Min­ers look to ex­tend win streak

BAUX­ITE — The Baux­ite Min­ers (3-1, 1-0) be­gan 7-4A ac­tion on the right foot last week, de­feat­ing Malvern 21-7 at home.

This week, the Min­ers head south to Ash­down (2-2, 0-1) to take on the Pan­thers, a team that was shutout 34-0 by Har­mony Grove in Week 4.

The Min­ers to­taled 379 yards of of­fense in Week 4, in­clud­ing 229 on the ground with two scores on 34 car­ries.

Through the air, Baux­ite passed a few times, com­plet­ing 8 of 16 at­tempts for 150 yards and a score. Malvern would snatch two in­ter­cep­tions in the loss as well.

Through four games, in­clud­ing their three-game win­ning streak, the Min­ers have gained 1,357 yards of of­fense.

De­fen­sively, the Min­ers have made 301 tack­les with 15 go­ing for loss — in­clud­ing eight sacks for mi­nus-34 yards.

Open­ing kick­off is set for 7 p.m. at Ash­down on Fri­day.
