Ben­ton, Bryant com­pete in Con­way

CON­WAY — Af­ter sweep­ing their pool with vic­to­ries over Rus­sel­lville and West­side, the Ben­ton Lady Pan­thers would fall to even­tual Lady Cat In­vite Gold Bracket cham­pion Jones­boro Satur­day in Con­way.

Ben­ton had a tough time against the Lady Hur­ri­cane, falling 25-8 in the first set be­fore com­ing back in the sec­ond set to make it com­pet­i­tive, but still falling 25-21. Jones­boro would de­feat Val­ley View 25-11 and 25-22 in the Gold Bracket cham­pi­onship.

The Lady Pan­thers (183, 11-1 South) han­dled Rus­sel­lville (25-18, 25-13) and West­side (25-15,

25-18) in pool play.

Split­ting in pool play, the Bryant Lady Hor­nets would pick up a 25-17, 25-18 win over Net­tle­ton in Sil­ver Bracket play be­fore falling 25-21, 25-19 to even­tual Sil­ver Bracket champ Lake­side, which de­feated Paragould 25-20, 25-22 in the ti­tle match.

Ben­ton gets back into 5A South Con­fer­ence ac­tion on Tues­day with a trip to El Do­rado to take on the Lady Wild­cats, while Bryant is back in 6A Cen­tral play Tues­day when the Lady Hor­nets host Cabot at the Hor­net’s Nest in Bryant.
