Archivist to speak at Ben­ton event

Brian K. Robert­son, se­nior archivist and man­ager of the Re­search Ser­vices Di­vi­sion at the But­ler Cen­ter for Arkansas Stud­ies at the Cen­tral Arkansas Library Sys­tem in Lit­tle Rock, will present the pro­gram “Trea­sures from the But­ler Cen­ter of the Cen­tral Arkansas Library” at 7 p.m. Thurs­day at the Ar­chives and Fam­ily His­tory Re­search Cen­ter lo­cated at 123 North Mar­ket St. in Down­town Ben­ton.

Robert­son has a bach­e­lors de­gree in his­tory from the Univer­sity of Cen­tral Arkansas and a mas­ter’s de­gree in pub­lic his­tory from the Univer­sity of Arkansas at Lit­tle Rock.

Robert­son, an award win­ning au­thor, has writ­ten or edited sev­eral ar­ti­cles in var­i­ous historical jour­nals and mag­a­zines. Robert­son has served as guest cu­ra­tor for two ex­hibits at the Old State

House Mu­seum – “Meet Me in St. Louis: 1904 Louisiana Pur­chase Ex­po­si­tion” and “Badges, Ban­dits, and Bars: Arkansas Law & Jus­tice.”

Robert­son is also the coau­thor of a pic­to­rial his­tory of Independen­ce County.

Ben­ton res­i­dents are en­cour­aged to at­tend the in­ter­est­ing pro­gram.

The Sa­line County His­tory & Her­itage So­ci­ety has been pre­serv­ing the his­tory of Sa­line County since 1986. Wil­son Du­vall serves as pres­i­dent.
