Ben­ton Jr. Lady Pan­thers rout LRC in opener

BRYANT – The Ben­ton Jr. Lady Pan­thers opened the sea­son with a 44-27 win over Lit­tle Rock Chris­tian at the Bryant Clas­sic Mon­day in Bryant.

“We got off to a great start with great en­ergy and de­fen­sive ef­fort,” Ben­ton Head Coach Kelly Scott said.

The Jr. Lady Pan­thers (ninth grade) led 10-8 after one quar­ter of play and upped it to 21-14 at the half.

Fresh­man Alyssa Hous­ton started the second half with back-to-back bas­kets to put Ben­ton up 11 early on, which

would be the ad­van­tage head­ing into the fourth at 28-17. The Lady Pan­thers would dom­i­nate the fi­nal set to claim the 17-point vic­tory.

“In the fourth quar­ter, we were able to get some easy

shots,” Scott said.

Madi­son Mcin­tire led the way for Ben­ton with 14 points, fol­lowed by Pres­ley Chism’s 13. Hous­ton added 10 points, with Wesleigh Fer­gu­son con­tribut­ing seven.

Ben­ton will con­tinue play in the Clas­sic on Thurs­day against Vilo­nia at 4:30 p.m.

The Ben­ton boys ninth grade fell in a close one, 37-34, to Vilo­nia, in the Clas­sic and will take on Lake­side on Thurs­day.

Ben­ton’s Kyle Payne led the way with nine points, with Ja­mar­ius Mor­gan and Caiden Phillips adding six apiece.
