Bryant Board to dis­cuss em­ployee bonuses

With the hol­i­days around the cor­ner, the Bryant School Board is sched­uled to dis­cuss a one-time bonus pay­ment for all em­ploy­ees dur­ing a meet­ing today.

The board’s reg­u­lar meet­ing will be­gin at 6 p.m. in the Pro­fes­sional De­vel­op­ment Build­ing on the Bryant High School Cam­pus.

The dis­trict’s Per­son­nel Pol­icy Com­mit­tee and ad­min­is­tra­tion are rec­om­mend­ing the board ap­prove a “one-time non­re­cur­ring salary pay­ment” to all ac­tive con­tracted em­ploy­ees.

Ac­cord­ing to the pro­posal, all el­i­gi­ble em­ployee will re­ceive a sin­gle lump-sum pay­ment dur­ing the week of Dec. 2, 2019.

To be el­i­gi­ble for the bonus, staff mem­bers must be ac­tively em­ployed as of today and be in good stand­ing with the dis­trict.

Cer­ti­fied em­ploy­ees will re­ceive $400 each and clas­si­fied em­ployee will re­ceive a pro­por­tion of the $400 pay­ment based on their hours-per-day or their nor­mal, av­er­age ac­tual hours-per


Clas­si­fied em­ploy­ees work­ing less than 3 hours per day will re­ceive $160; em­ploy­ees work­ing 3 to

4.9 hours will re­ceive $240, em­ploy­ees work­ing 5 to

6.9 hours will re­ceive $320 and em­ploy­ees work­ing 7 or more hours will re­ceive $400, ac­cord­ing to the pro­posal.

Dur­ing the recog­ni­tion por­tion of the meet­ing, the board will rec­og­nize Bryant High School stu­dents who re­ceived the Arkansas Seal of Bilit­er­acy for demon­strat­ing pro­fi­ciency in English and one or more other lan­guages by high school grad­u­a­tion.

Other items on the agenda in­clude:

•Out of state travel re­quests from the Bryant High School Soft­ball

Team, Bryant High School JROTC and the Bryant High School Var­sity Dance Team.

•The Oct. 2019 fi­nan­cial re­port.

•The pro­posed 20212022 school year bud­get.

•A rec­om­men­da­tion to ex­pel a Bryant Ju­nior High School stu­dent for the re­main­der of the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.

•Per­son­nel changes.

All meet­ings of the board are open to the pub­lic and at­ten­dance is en­cour­aged.
