Benton bowling splits vs. Lakeside
HOT SPRINGS – The Benton bowling girls stayed a perfect 3-0 on the season, while the Benton boys suffered their first loss this past Monday against the Lakeside Rams in Hot Springs.
For the girls, the Lady Panthers took the first game 738-691 and edged the Lady Rams 752-749 in the second to take a 1,490-1,440 in traditional game pin fall.
In the two Baker games, when five bowlers bowl two frames apiece, Benton took a 132-104 in the first Baker game before getting edged 133-129 in the second. But, the Lady Panthers took overall pin fall 1,751-1,677 to claim their third straight victory to open the season.
Sophia Meadows again led the Lady Panthers, bowling a 168 in the first game and a 173 in the second for a 341 series to lead all bowlers. Abby Hardister came in with a 282 series (151, 131) for second overall, while Savanna Gipson (231 - 116, 115), Alex Shepherd (225 113, 112), Fallon Lane (213 - 100, 113) and Abby Wilson (198 - 90, 108) followed.
The Benton boys bowled their best this season, but Lakeside was absolutely on fire knocking down 2,527 total pins to the Panthers 2,041. Benton scored a 901 in the first game, but the Rams knocked down 1,012 pins to take the first match. The Panthers were still good in the second with an 865, but Lakeside had 1,088 for
a 2,100-1,766 in traditional game pin fall.
The Benton boys were still good in the Baker games, but again Lakeside was better with a 250-149 in the first and a 177-126 in the second.
For the Panthers, Alex Roberts led the way with a 434 series, bowling a
203 and 231, while Carter Robinson was on Roberts’ heels with a 417 (205, 212). Raider Gipson (261 - 120, 141), Justin Morgan (244 - 141, 103), Cole Clift (221 - 136, 85) and Koen Pinnell (189 - 96, 93) followed.
Benton will get the Christmas break off before resuming action on Monday, Jan. 6, against Parkview at Professor Bowl - West in Little Rock.
