Jr. Pan­thers fall in close af­fair

BEN­TON – The Ben­ton Jr. Pan­thers ninth-grade team lost a heart-breaker this past Mon­day at Ben­ton Arena. The Jr. Pan­thers would fall 38-36 to Hot Springs to drop to 2-8 over­all for their fifth straight loss.

It was a close game through­out as Ben­ton trailed 10-8 af­ter one, but fought back to tie Hot Springs 18-18 at the half. The Jr. Tro­jans would jump on the Jr. Pan­thers in the third quar­ter to take a 32-24 lead af­ter three, but though Ben­ton got close in the fourth, the Jr. Pan­thers couldn’t com­plete the come­back for the two-point loss.

Ben­ton fresh­man Ja­mar­ius Morgan led the way with 17 points, with Jonathan Bell scor­ing seven. Walker Davis fol­lowed with five, Caiden Phillips four and Brooks Lane had three.

Ben­ton is back in ac­tion next year when the Jr. Pan­thers com­pete in the Kameron Hale Tour­na­ment at Lake Hamil­ton High School on Thurs­day, Jan. 2.
