Man charged with killing brother, sister-in-law
A 29-year-old Benton man was charged with fatally shooting his brother and sister-in-law during an altercation in November.
Luke Talbert was originally charged with two counts of firstdegree murder, but later the charges were upgraded to capital murder.
Talbert allegedly shot his brother, Mark Talbert, 26, and sisterin-law, Maegan Talbert, 23, with a pump-action shotgun, according to Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Walton.
Walton also said the suspect left the room to acquire the weapon before returning to fire both shots.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Freeman Street in Benton.
Talbert was arrested without incident.
