New cases, deaths low, no new hospitaliz­ations

The Arkansas Department of Health reported a low new case count on Monday.

There were 42 new confirmed cases and two new probable cases.

Both confirmed and probable active cases fell — confirmed by 63 and probable by 62.

Confirmed deaths went up by five to 4,501. There were no new probable deaths.

Hospitaliz­ations also had no change at 145 with 23 on ventilator­s.

The state received results for 1,337 PCR tests and 78 antigen tests.

Saline County has had 11,743 cumulative cases — 8,709 confirmed and 3,034 probable. Active cases are at 47 — 24 confirmed and 23 probable. There have been 11,527 recoveries — 8,543 confirmed and 2,984 probable. The county has had 166 deaths — 140 confirmed and 26 probable.

Nationally, there have been 30,786,016 with 555,619 deaths.

“Today’s report shows another decrease in active cases and low new cases,” said Gov. Asa Hutchinson with the release of the numbers. “Even though (Sunday) was Easter, we still saw an increase of over 8,700 vaccine doses administer­ed. We’re making progress, and it’s important we all do our part by getting vaccinated.”

Hutchinson is scheduled to give his weekly briefing today at 1:30 p.m.
