SCSO seeking suspects in gun thefts

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is seeking suspects in the robbery of a Mabelvale storage unit where a number of guns were stolen.

On April 6, deputies responded to Mabelvale Storage, on 14055 Chicot Rd., in response to a suspected breaking and entering.

According to the SCSO incident report, the storage unit owner discovered that his unit had been broken into sometime on April 5. A large gun case containing several weapons and two big screen television­s were stolen.

The victim stated that on the day he unloaded his items, two people watched as he unloaded the gun safe and that he believes that whoever broke into the unit knew what they were looking for because three units next to his were also broken into as if the thieves were looking for his gun safe. No units past his were touched. The stolen items include:

• Beretta Single Shot 410

• Remington 30-06

• Benelli 12 Gauge

• One addition weapon,

make and model unknown.

The estimated total value of the stolen items is

$10,085.

The storage facility owner told investigat­ors that he felt certain the break-in happened during the night of April 5, as he had people who checked the gate. Security cameras were either not working properly or did not pick up anything out of the ordinary.

The owner also stated that that his lease agreements prohibit weapons from being stored and that he would continue to search security footage.
